love the idea, i thought of this before, just consider all the things that have been said, quite easy to remove all abuses.

I think this is a great idea, the possible exploits would be minor.

-Power leveling is easy to get around. Either your Character Heroes don't gain experience or they have to be lvl 20 to be used as a Hero.

-Farming with a Character wouldn't be any different than farming with the already built in Heroes. ANet could just make them follow the same rules.

-It would allow for wider variation in party formations. Instead of having multiple Dunkoros running around, people could bring in their own custom made monks.

-As for creating overly powerful groups, maybe limit the number of Character Heroes to 1 per person. This would also maintain the multiplayer element of GW, which is part of the fun of playing the game.

-Also, you should have to complete quests in order to bring in a Character as a Hero, but also to allow your character to be used as a Hero by another.

-Characters also should not gain access to new towns or missions if they get to those places as a Hero and they should not get any closer to gaining the Exploration Titles.

Heros killed the game already.
Overkill and eliminates team play.

I agree that you shouldn't be able to power level your characters in such a way, but that doesn't mean that it isn't a good idea. It would be simple enough to fix too. They could just make it that if you use your own characters as heros, they do not gain experience and any quests/zones you complete or unlock while using them do not count towards them. Just your characters weapon/armor/skills are available to them when used as a hero. There, problem solved. Great idea.

PS, this ability could also be used as a reward for those who unlock all heros or something.

its a great idea if they had some way to "suppress" the power of charectors too high a level it would be great balanced and fun ,and this should be able to cross-campaigns, like cross-campiagn travel, and if you could suppres the power of your other charectors, it would work perfectly, why hasnt anyone thought of this idea, before oh lol i have.

/signignified x 10000000 times.

Limit it to level 20 chars only for the sake of cry baby 'ZOMG NOESSSS! POWERLVL1NG OMG OMG!'

How to make GW perfect:

1) Allow me to play my elly and my monk at the same

2) Allow each to use 3 heroes

3) Allow me to toggle whether I want to controll my elly or my monk, and let the AI handle the other.

4) Allow me to use PVE skills on my heroes

I would give Anet £100 to implement this.

While there are a few obvious ways to exploit this, the ways to stop said exploits is equally obvious (don't give them exp or areas, perhaps not let you party with a character higher level than you, etc.)

If nothing else, at least this idea would grant people unique "Heroes" that no other player can have.

no problem adding them as heroes
since they dont get drops, they dont earn experience.

would be so much fun see my main character as a hero helping another char.

If Heroes "killed" the game already, as you say, then it could hardly be made any deader. How would the use of three of your alts as three Heroes be any different than using three regular Heroes?

As for the fate of "team play," that's pretty much a nonissue for many of us. Cooperative play is something I do only when I feel like it -- which isn't often.

I think the OP's idea sounds fun. It won't happen, but I'd be in favor of it.

No they didn't. Ursan killed the game already. The PvE side anyway, as for in your mind Heroes did. People who used henchmen now H/H and go guild, people who PuGged still PuG.

I'm not half arsed all in all.
